It's January!
Happy New Year to everyone and welcome to 2015.
We are back at school and it is very cold. The weather is always changing so please come prepared!
Our class has been busy at work the first few days. We are working on
sight words that we learned before the holidays and adding new ones too!
Here are the words we know:

At home, you can practice in many ways:
-write the words on paper and cut them out. Put them all down and call out a word to see how fast your child can find it
-make 2 of each word. Put all the words face down on the table. Take turns flipping over 2 cards at a time to find a matching word. You win the matching cards if you can say the word.
-make 2 of each word and play Go Fish! Give each player 4 cards. Put the rest of the cards face down (this is called the pile). Look at your cards to see if you have any matches and take them out. Take turns and ask if your partner has a word in your hand. IE "Do you have
my?". If your partner does not have the word, you take a card from the pile. Keep going until all the cards are finished.
-draw a picture and use the words to make a sentence
New Inquiry: What is making the sound inside this object?
A friend in our class found this in the classroom. Some of us think it's a pumpkin. When we shook it, it made a funny sound. What could be inside?
We asked some questions and made some predictions and observations about it:
Is there water in there?
Is it a bubble inside?
Does it have seeds?
Is it juice?
It might grow into a pumpkin.
Where did it come from?
Maybe a squirrel eats the stuff inside.
FEE FI FOE FUM! There's lots of measuring to be done!
