Hundreds Day!

Last Thursday was our Hundreds Day celebration! Woohoo!! That means over half of the school year is over. We are 100 days smarter than we were in September. Wow!

To celebrate we did many 100 day activities. Take a peek inside our class:

We looked at different jars of things that MIGHT be 100. Our class voted on which jar they thought had 100 inside.

Making a 100s day crown.

Making a hundred cheerio necklace or bracelet.

Number Bingo!

Counting the things in our jars using a hundreds chart.

Attempting to make a 100 paper chain.
Thank you to our students for bringing in bags of 100 things! We had candles, fruit loops, cheerios, numbers, folded triangles, beans, rice, pasta, Chuck E Cheese tickets, paper clips, elastics, googly eyes!

Last week our word of the week was:

I like to play with blocks.

Mystery Reader #1

Say HELLO to our first Mystery Reader!!

We heard a loud KNOCK on the door. When we opened it, we found Ms. Constas! Christopher's mom! Take a look at how interested we all were!

We listened carefully as Ms. Constas read us a book and helped Santa make and pack the toys he takes to kids around the world.

Thank you for coming in! We had fun!

Clementine Day 17

Even though we decided to check on Day 30...one of the friends in our class discovered a big change!

On day 17, this is what we found. We passed it around, looked at it and smelled a strong stinky smell.

Our friends noticed a lot of grey, white and green on it. It was decided that "we can't eat it because it has been a long time." That means, when our food starts to look like that we shouldn't eat it!

Measurement

In the last 2 weeks we have been exploring MEASUREMENT!

This week we explored scales. Our class read the book Balancing Act to get an idea of what a see-saw or teeter totter looked like. We then explored how to make our own. We had some trials and mistrials and then we looked at it as a class. What worked? What didn't? How do we get the tray to balance? What would happen if I put a bear counter on one side? How do I get it to balance again?

Each group was given: a tube, sticky tack, and a tray of some sort.

We then explored with real balances. Let's see what we find next week!
